Life Point Counseling Internship Opportunities
We accept graduate student interns for a year-long commitment. Interns receive 1 hour of 1:1 supervision per week, and 1-2 hours of group supervision per week. Placement is progressive- students start out learning about the clinic and getting orientated. Students build from observing sessions to co-facilitating, to taking on their own clients. Students have the opportunity to engage in individual counseling (children and adults), family counseling, couples and groups, and may give educational presentations. Students also learn about private practice, marketing, program development, and insurance billing.
How do I apply?
Interested candidates must submit a cover letter and CV prior to the Fall semester the year they are interested in to be considered for placement. Cover letter and CV can be sent to tina@lifepointwi.com.
Post Internship
Once a student has completed an internship, received their degree and successfully obtained a Counselor in Training license (LPC-IT) from the state of Wisconsin, they can be hired on to earn their required 3000 hours of experience in order to become fully licensed. They function as independent counselors; however they are provided group supervision and individual supervision on a weekly basis. They have a supervisor they can consult with regarding any clinical issues/concerns they have, or information on additional resources. Applications are considered on an ongoing basis.
