Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor
Julie is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) in the State of Wisconsin.
She has always been interested in working with people. Her style of counseling is to look at the individual needs of each client. She does not believe in using a “cookie-cutter” approach, rather looking at the individual needs of the client. Her approach considers the whole person, their thoughts, feelings, physical and spiritual needs. Overall wellness is an important consideration.
Julie received her Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and her Graduate degree in Community Counseling from the University of Winona in Minnesota.
Her experience includes a variety of settings in the mental health field. This includes: residential settings, group home settings, inpatient programs, day treatment, IOP and outpatient settings. Her experience includes working with families, adolescents and adults with dual diagnoses. These experiences include individual and group counseling in substance abuse and mental health counseling.
At this time she is offering individual counseling in an outpatient setting.
The counseling approach depends upon the individual needs of the client. Overall, the cognitive-behavioral approach is the primary, however the eclectic approach seems to be the best to retain clients’ involvement within counseling and to assist them in meeting their goals. She encourages clients to take responsibility for their choices of the past, present and future. Specialties include:
- Mental Health/Substance Use Disorders (Dual Diagnosis)
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Anger Management
- Gambling Problems
- Sexual and Pornography addictions
- Stress Management
- Depression
- Anxiety
Julie works Tuesdays-Thursdays. There are also some flexible hours offering Telehealth (video sessions)
