Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor
Julie is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) in the State of Wisconsin.
She has always been interested in working with people. Her style of counseling is to look at the individual needs of each client. She does not believe in generalizing clients based on a diagnosis. Her approach considers the whole person-thoughts, feelings, physical, and spiritual.
Julie received her Bachelors degree in Psychology, with a Concentration in Applied Psychology (CAP) from UW-La Crosse and her Graduate degree in Community Counseling from the University of Winona (MN).
Her experience includes a variety of settings in the mental health field. This includes: residential settings for the mentally ill person, group home settings, inpatient, day treatment and outpatient settings. In the past 20 years, she has primarily worked with adults and adolescents in an outpatient setting.
Julie provides individual and group counseling for AODA needs, individual counseling for mental health needs. The counseling approach does depend upon the individual needs of the client. Overall, the cognitive-behavioral approach is the primary approach, however the eclectic approach seems to be the best to retain clients’ involvement within counseling and to assist them in meeting their goals. She encourages clients to take responsibility for their choices past, present and future. The primary motivation, to change thoughts and behaviors now to improve your life for your future.
